Mark a false positive

Tell Lighthouse a finding isn't a real problem, and optionally stop similar findings.

A false positive is a finding that isn't a real problem in your code. Marking one removes it from every count and from blocking. If it caused a scan to block, Lighthouse decides the outcome again, and a pull request's check on GitHub updates to match.

Who can do this:Team adminsRepository maintainersDevelopers can see the mark and the reason.

Mark a finding

Open the finding and press Mark as false positive.

Optionally, add a Reason, such as "This endpoint is internal and only reachable over the VPN." Your teammates will see it.

Choose whether to stop similar findings:

  • Leave Add an exception for similar findings checked and press Continue. Lighthouse drafts a scan exception from the finding and your reason. Review it, edit if needed, and press Add exception.
  • Uncheck it for a one-off, and press Mark.

The finding moves to the scan's False positives section, with who marked it, when, why, and the exception it created.

Undo

Open the finding and press Undo. It counts again, and the scan's outcome is decided again. If the mark created an exception, Lighthouse asks whether to delete it too.

False positive or exception

Covers
False positiveOne finding in one scan.
Scan exceptionA situation, in future scans.

Marking a false positive with Add an exception for similar findings does both.
